Pressed metal is produced by pressing aluminium panels and therefore requires painting to ensure it's durability. Upon pressing each panel is dipped in a non-chromate solution which prepares each panel for painting or powdercoating.
It is surprisingly easy to paint, and can be rolled or brushed. If painting you will need to prime, undercoat and topcoat.
Pressed Metal can be used in wet areas such as kitchen splashbacks. The panels must be sealed adequately around the edges and where any areas overlap to prevent water from penetrating behind the panels.
If you are using Pressed Metal panels in a bathroom please ensure that the sub surface is waterproofed.
If using Pressed Metal on a ceiling it is easier to install if you sheet the ceiling in tile underlay. Always start by installing the cornice first (using our special cornice guides) and then fit the Pressed Metal panels from the centre of the ceiling out. Pressed Metal can be installed by a builder, plasterer, carpenter or home handyman. Period Details also provides an installation service.
Period Details is happy to provide a quote for installation. Please advise which pattern you are after, the area to be covered and where it is being installed. Feel free to email through site plans and/or pictures.
Detailed installation instructions are available upon purchase.
